• Carl Friedrich Gauss found methods for determining an orbit based on three observations. He also presented his least squares method

Chemistry

• Barium, calcium, magnesium, and strontium isolated by Sir Humphry Davy.
• Joseph Louis Gay-Lussac formulated the law of combining volumes for gases.
• John Dalton publishes New System of Chemical Philosophy, explaining his atomic theory of chemistry.
