• Ford Madox Ford publishes Last Post. It is the final book of a four-volume work titled Parade's End published between 1924 and 1928. In 2001 the collection would be named as part of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century by the editorial board of the American Modern Library.

• Point Counter Point by Aldous Huxley is published. In 2001, the book would be one of two books by Huxley to be on the list of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century as selected by the editorial board of the American Modern Library.
