Afgedamde Maas
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The Meuse river splits near Heusden into the Afgedamde Maas on the right and the Bergse Maas on the left. It joins the Waal near Woudrichem to form the Boven Merwede.

The Bergse Maas has been formed in 1904, to divert the flow of the Meuse from the route now called Afgedamde Maas (Dammed Up Meuse). The latter is still connected to the Meuse through the Heusdens Canal.

There is a car ferry, not operating on sundays, and a foot passenger ferry. [1]
