Allard Kenneth Lowenstein, (January 16, 1929 - March 14, 1980), liberal Democratic politician, leader of the Dump Johnson movement in 1968, one-term congressman representing the 5th District in Nassau County, New York (elected 1968, gerrymandered out); later ran unsuccessfully for Congress in a Brooklyn district and was head of Americans for Democratic Action.
Born Newark, New Jersey. Shot to death by Dennis Sweeney, a former supporter who was experiencing mental problems, in New York City.
