Namie Amuro (安室奈美恵, b. September 20, 1977) is a Japanese pop singer. Originally from Okinawa prefecture, she emerged in the early 1990's with the assistance of producer Komuro Tetsuya. Amuro married a dancer in 1997: their marriage was one of the most publicized in Japan until it ended in divorce in 2002.
