Andrew Marvell
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Andrew Marvell (March 31,1621 - August 16,1678) was an English metaphysical poet, and the son of an Anglican clergyman.

He wrote the poetic preface to the second edition of Milton's Paradise Lost. As a metaphysical, he is associated with John Donne and George Herbert, but also with Ben Jonson.

Famous poems include To His Coy Mistress, which T. S. Eliot references in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, and The Garden, a rather interesting poem in itself.
