Ankara Province is the province which is home to the capital city of Turkey, Ankara. It is located in the west-central Anatolian steppes. With the exception of the capital city, most of the province is rural, used for agriculture. Its population in 2003 was over 3.5 million people.
Ankara became the capital of Turkey in 1923.
