The "Apu Trilogy" is the name given to three films directed by the late director Satyajit Ray , who won an Oscar for lifetime achievement in 1992.
These films are Pather Panchali, Aparajito and Apur Sansar .
Based on the works of the great Bengali litterateur Bibhuti Bhusan Bandopadhyay, these films when released in the 1950s, had the distinct trace of French Impressionism, Italian Neoclassicism and Hollywood.
