From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
AtheOS (a contraction of Athena operating system) is a free software Unix-like operating system for x86-based computers. It was created entirely by a Norwegian programmer, Kurt Skauen, from 1994 to the early 2000s. The author also ported Khtml to create for AtheOS the ABrowse web browser.
Features
After development of AtheOS was stalled for a substantial period of time, a group of AtheOS programmers formed the Syllable project in 2002; development of the system is currently continued under the Syllable operating system code-fork.
