In Maya mythology, the Bacabs were four sons of Itzamna and Ixchel. They held the sky up in each of the four directions, and each was associated with a color. They were also believed to be jaguar Gods.
They were:
- Cauac
- south
- red
- Ix
- west
- black
- Kan (later replaced by Chac)
- east
- yellow
- Mulac
- north
- white
