Bangka-Belitung is one of the provinces of Indonesia. It is consists of some islands off the coast of Sumatra, just north of South Sumatra province. To the west is the Bankga Strait, to the north the South China sea, and the east the Karimata Strait. The Java Sea is to the south.
The province was formerly part of South Sumatra, but since 2000, it has become an independent province along with Banten and Gorontalo. The capital is Pangkal Pinang. It consists of several islands with its main islands are Bangka and Belitung. Between these islands lies the Gaspar Strait.
