Barbara Line
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The Barbara Line, during World War II, was a series of German military fortifications, near Naples, Italy, which ran along a ridge from the Vulturno to the Garigliano and then over the southern Apenniness to the Trigno. In October 1943, Allied forces attacked the Vulturno and forced the Germans to retreat from the Barbara Line. On November 2, British troops reached the Garigliano and, on January 17, 1944, the river was crossed.
