Batman Beyond was an animated television series created by WB Network in collaboration with DC Comics as a continuation of the Batman character saga, in particular as seen in Batman: The Animated Series.
The story is set approximately thirty years in the future from present day in Gotham City. An aged Bruce Wayne is no longer able to fight criminal elements as he once used to. During a battle, hampered by age and a heart condition, he was actually forced to threaten someone with a gun to keep the upper hand. Shocked and dismayed at what he was forced to do, he decides to retire from crime fighting.
Fortunately, he stumbles onto Terry McGinnis, a high school student who had lost his father to criminal activity. Young McGinnis dawns a newer more advanced batsuit and, under the watchful eye of Bruce Wayne, continues the battle against crime in Gotham City.
