The Beale ciphers are a set of three ciphertexts which alledgedly reveal the location of a treasure of gold and silver estimated to be worth over 10 million dollars in todays money. Only one of the ciphertexts has ever been deciphered, it was found to be enciphered using a book cipher using the American Declaration of Independence as it's key.
There has been a significant amount of debate over whether the remaining two ciphertexts are real or are hoaxes.
