Breaks, also known as breakbeats or breakbeat, is a sub-genre of electronic music usually characterized by a non 4/4 drum pattern (as opposed to the steady beat of house or trance).

Sub-styles:

• breakbeat hardcore
• chemical breaks
• Florida
• nu skool breaks
