Bupropion hydrochloride is an amfebutamone anti-depressant unrelated to tricyclics or SSRIs. The patent is owned by GlaxoSmithKline, who sell the compound as Wellbutrin®. It has been shown to aid cessation of cigarette smoking and is sold for this purpose as Zyban. It also promotes weight loss and does not exacerbate acne. Its exact mode of action is unknown. Side effects include sleeplessness.
