Cadwallader is a British early medieval King, mentioned in the prophecies of Merlin in the Historia Regum Britanniae (vii,3) by Geoffrey of Monmouth.
Cadwaladr lived some time during the 7th century and in Welsh is sometimes called "Cadwaladr Fendigaid" ("Cadwaladr the Blessed"). He is believed to have been a prince of Gwynedd, the son of Cadwallon. He defeated a usurper, Cadafael ap Cynfedw, to regain his father's kingdom of Gwynedd. His standard, the red dragon, was adopted by Henry Tudor, who claimed descent from Cadwaladr.
