Canadian Corps
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The Canadian Corps was a World War I corps formed in September 1915 upon the arrival of the Canadian 2nd Division in France. Originally comprising the 1st and 2nd Canadian Divisions, the corps was expanded by the addition of the Canadian 3rd Division in December 1915 and the Canadian 4th Division in August 1916.

The corps was originally commanded by Lieutenant General E.A.H Alderson. In 1916 Lieutenant General Julian Byng took over command. When Byng was promoted to an Army command, he was succeeded by the commander of the 1st Division, General Arthur W. Currie, giving the corps its first Canadian commander.
