There are three Canadian Northern Territories in Canada. They lie north of 60 degrees north mostly, though they also have many Islands in Hudson Bay and in the Arctic Ocean.
The three northern territories of Canada are:
- Yukon Territory
- Northwest Territories
- Nunavut
In 1999, Nunavut was created from the Northwest Territories. Nunavut's population is mostly Inuit, while the population of the Northwest Territories is mostly Caucasian. The Yukon Territory lies in the western portion of the north, while Nunavut is in the east.
These Northern Territories are often refered to as a single region for orginizational purposes.
