Conviction
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

A conviction is when a person is found guilty of a crime by a court. The opposite verdict is an acquittal.

The next step after conviction is sentencing. There is a natural degree of controversy over convictions because it is known that innocent people are regulary convicted of crimes they did not commit.
