The culture of Turkey draws customs from the Ottoman Empire and the Islamic traditions, modernised primarily by Kemal Ataturk and his "Neoturks" movement.
The Kurdish, Greek, Armenian and other non-Turk populations which still exist in Turkey may follow different customs.
Today Turkey is leaning more towards the "American way".
