Curufin is a character in the fictional world of Tolkien

He was the fifth son of Fëanor and Nerdanel, most closely associated with another brother, Celegorm. Among all his brethen he was the closest to his father, both in appearance and in temperment, as well as in skill as a master smith. Curufin is the father of Celebrimbor, master jewel-smith of Eregion who forged the three Elvish Rings of Power.

His father name -- the traditional name given by an Elvish father to his offspring -- was Curufinwë, which was also Fëanor's original name. This was because Curufin was not only most akin Fëanor, he was also his father's favorite son. Nerdanel gave him the mother name of Atarinkë, which means "Little Father" in Quenya.

Curufin fell in the Second Kinslaying, when the Sons of Fëanor attacked Doriath to seize the Silmarils from the Sindar. He was slain by Dior the Beautiful, Thingol's Heir, who in turn was slain by Curufin.
