DanceSport

Dancesport denotes dance as sport activity. Initially this term was applied to competitive ballroom dancing, in its international style.

Its international governing body is IDSF.

Since 1997 the International Olympic Committee officially recognizes Dancesport. The IDSF stronlgy pushes for the inclusion of the dancesport as a medal sport in the Olympic Games. The decision of the IOC was unfortunately negative so far, but fortunately it was not final.
