Dial-up access
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Dial-up access is a form of internet access in which the client uses a modem to dial the ISP's node, a dialup server type such as the PPP and TCP/IP protocols to establish a modem-to-modem link, which is then routed to the internet.

One very low cost dial up provider is the Freenet, which is run by volunteers. In Los Angeles, California it is http://www.lafn.org
