Director of National Intelligence
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The Director of National Intelligence (DNI) is the proposed title of United States cabinet-level post that would split the post of Director of Central Intelligence into two separate positions: the DNI, which would lead all segments of the Intelligence Community, and a Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (DCIA) to serve as head of the CIA. Creating this post was one of the recommendations by the House-Senate Intelligence Committee investigating the September 11 attacks.

This change will occur with the passage of Senate bill S. 190 Intelligence Community Leadership Act of 2003 [1], which has been sponsored by Sen. Dianne Feinstein. It is due to go before committee in April, 2004.
