The title of Earl Peel was created in 1929 for William Wellesley Peel, 2nd Viscount Peel, a Conservative politician. The 1st Viscount Peel was a son of the prime minister Sir Robert Peel.
The Earl holds the subsidiary titles of Viscount Peel (1895) and Viscount Clanfield (1929), and is a baronet of Great Britain (1800).
