Ethel Skakel Kennedy (born April 11, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois) is a member of the Kennedy political dynasty by her marriage to Robert F. Kennedy. She had 11 children with Kennedy and was expecting the 11th when her husband was assassinated.
Their children were, in chronological order: Kathleen Hartington Kennedy Townsend (b. 1951), Joseph Patrick Kennedy II (b. 1952), Robert Francis Kennedy, Jr (b. 1954), David Anthony Kennedy (1955-1984), Mary Courtney Kennedy Ruhe (b. 1956), Michael LeMoyne Kennedy (1958-1997), Mary Kerry Kennedy Cuomo (b. 1959), Christopher George Kennedy (b. 1963), Matthew Maxwell Taylor Kennedy (b. 1965), Douglas Harriman Kennedy (b. 1967) and Rory Elizabeth Katherine Kennedy Bailey (b. 1968).
Ethel Skakel Kennedy is the aunt of Michael Skakel. Michael's father is Rushton Walter Skakel, Ethel's older brother. Michael Skakel was convicted in 2003 of the murder of Martha Moxley.
