The European People's Party is a Christian Democrat party grouping with seats in the European Parliament. According to it's website the EPP is " a family of the political centre whose roots are deep in the history of European civilisation. It unites like-minded national parties, in EU Member States and in EU applicant countries and we maintain close contact with decided proeleable candidate countries. "

The party was founded in 1976 and as of the 1999 European Parliament elections is the largest faction with 233 of the 626 seats. The EPP is currently made up of the following parties:
