Evan James, the writer of Hen Wald fy Nhadau (Land of my Fathers), lived from 1809-1878. According to the family legend, his son, James James, was walking one day and the melody for Hen Wald fy Nhadau came unto him. When he told his father of the tune, Evan James was able to compose the words for the present day Wales Nathional Antham.
