Hobbits are a fictional race in J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth books. They first appear in The Hobbit and play an important role in the book Lord of the Rings. Note that the years follow the reckoning of Gondor, not that of the Shire, and all, unless otherwise mentioned, of the Third Age. This article is a merge of several minor articles about female Hobbits, also called Hobbit-Lasses in the books, that are mentioned by name in Tolkien's works.

Belladonna Took

Belladonna Took (2852-2934) was the eldest daughter of the Old Took and Adamanta Chubb. She was also the wife of Bungo Baggins and the mother of Bilbo Baggins, the hero of the novel The Hobbit. She was also well known to the wizard Gandalf

Linda Baggins

Linda Baggins (2862-2963) was the sister of Bungo Baggins (2846-2926). She married Bodo Proudfoot, and had a son named Odo(2904-3005). Linda was also an aunt of Bilbo Baggins.

Primula Brandybuck Baggins

Primula Brandybuck Baggins (2920-2980) was a daughter of Gorbadoc Brandybuck, Master of Buckland. She became the wife of Drogo, and had one child, Frodo Baggins. In 2980, both she and Drogo drowned in the Brandywine, leaving Frodo orphaned.

Pearl Took

Pearl Took (2975-?) was the eldest sister of Peregrin Took (Pippin). She also had two sisters named Pimpernel and Pervinca. Pearl probably died sometime before the year 63 of the Fourth Age when Pippin left the Shire to live in Gondor.

In The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien it is mentioned that she might have killed the Took matriarch Lalia Clayhanger.

Pimpernel Took

Pimpernel Took (2979-?) is the second sister of Peregrin Took. She also had an older sister named Pearl Took and a younger sister named Pervinca Took. Pimpernel probably died sometime before the 63 of the Fourth Age when Pippin left the Shire to live in Gondor.

Pervinca Took

Pervinca Took (2985-?) was the third and youngest sister of Peregrin Took, though he was younger than she. In addition to Pippin , she had two older sisters named Pearl and Pimpernel. Pervinca probably died sometime before the year 63 of the Fourth Age when Pippin left the Shire to live in Gondor.

Rose Cotton

Rose "Rosie" Cotton was born in 2984 of the Third Age (1384 by Shire Reckoning), she was a long-time friend of Samwise Gamgee,an important character in The Lord of the Rings and they were married in 3020 when Sam returned home after the War of the Ring and the Scouring of the Shire. Sam and Rosie had thirteen children. One of them was Elanor the Fair.

Rosie died in the year 61 of the Fourth Age. Sam then left Middle-earth for the Undying Lands.

Lalia Clayhanger

Lalia Clayhanger (2883-3002) was the wife of Fortinbras Took II. She married in 2914; and her son Ferumbras was born two years later. Ferumbras had no wife because nobody wanted Lalia as a mother-in-law.

Lalia was so fat she couldn't walk and was confined to a wheelchair. She was known as Lalia the Fat. Lalia isn't on the Took family tree in The Lord of the Rings; but she is in The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien.

Fortinbras II died in 2980. Lalia was unable to attend the 111th birthday party of Bilbo Baggins. In 3002, she was pushed by her attendant and fell into her garden and died. Some hobbits rumored it was Pearl Took.

Elanor the Fair

Elanor the Fair was the first child of Master Samwise Gamgee and his wife Rose Cotton. Called 'the Fair' for her golden Hair, she was born March 25th, 1421 SR, the first day of the Fourth Age in Gondor. She was also the only one of the Gardener children known to the Ringbearer, Frodo Baggins, and was named by him. Later becoming a maid of honor to Queen Arwen Evenstar, Elanor married Fastred of Greenholm, who became Warden of Westmarch (their family being known as the Fairbairns of the Towers. After her father's passing to the Undying Lands in 1482 SR, Elanor and her line became the keepers of the Red Boook of Westmarsh. Among her children were Elfstan and Fíriel.

Goldilocks

Goldilocks (10 FA-?) was the 3rd daughter of Master Samwise Gamgee and his wife Rose Cotton. In FA 42, she married Faramir Took, son of Peregrin Took, Thain of the Shire, joining the Took & Gardner lines. Faramir became Thain in FA 63, when his father left for Gondor.

Diamond of Long Cleeve

Diamond of Long Cleeve became the wife of Thain Peregrin Took in the 6th year of the Fourth Age. She is possibly one of the North-Tooks, decended from Bandobras 'Bullroarer' Took. She had one son Faramir, named for the last Steward of Gondor. It is assumed that she died sometime before F.A. 63.

Estella Bolger

Estella Bolger was the sister of Fredegar "Fatty" Bolger, born in 2985. She marrried Master Meriadoc Brandybuck of Buckland, and had at least one son. It is assumed that she died sometime before F.A. 63.

Melilot Brandybuck

Melilot Brandybuck (2985-?) was a guest at the farewell party of Bilbo Baggins. She danced the Springle-ring (a hobbit dance) with Everard Took. She was a third cousin of Meriadoc Brandybuck.

Adaldrida Bolger

Adaldrida Bolger (birth/death dates unknown; probably around 2820-2923) was an ancestor of Frodo Baggins and Meriadoc Brandybuck. She married Marmadoc Brandybuck (2817-2910), and had four children: Gorbadoc, two daughters, and Orgulas.

Lobelia Sackville-Baggins

Lobelia Sackville-Baggins, was a notable female hobbit who coveted Bag End and finally bought it from Frodo Baggins. Lobelia Bracegirdle was born sometime before 2920. She married Otho Sackville-Baggins (2910-3012). She had a son, Lotho, who was born in 2964. Otho died in 3012.

During the War of the Ring, Lotho was murdered by Wormtongue. Lobelia then moved back to her original family, the Bracegirdles of Hardbottle. She died in 3020, and she was over 100 years old.
