Fountains Of Wayne is an American indie rock band, formed in 1995.
The band was created by Adam Schlesinger and Chris Collingwood. The two first worked together in the mid-1980s, before going their separate ways: Collingwood to Mercy Buckets, a country group, and Schlesinger to Ivy, who are still a going concern today. Collingwood and Schlesinger reuinted in the mid-1990s to form Fountains of Wayne. The band is best known for the comic song "Stacy's Mom" although many feel that the song's success obscures the quality of their earlier work.
