The Goethe-Institut Inter Nationes is a national institute for spreading of German culture and training in German as a foreign language, with branch institutes all over the world, 16 within Germany and 126 in 77 other countries. It was founded in 1925 as the Deutsche Akademie (DA).
The institute is financed by the national government of Germany, and has around 3,300 employees and an overall budget of approximately 278 million at its disposal. Its president is Professor Dr. Jutta Limbach, and the General Secretary is Dr. habil. Andreas Schlüter.
