Going Dutch
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

In England, going Dutch means going for a cheaper option, or splitting a restaurant bill between the two parties.

Phrases using Dutch were created because the Netherlands used to be a great rival to England (especially the Dutch East India Company), and generally Dutch phrases show Dutchmen in a bad light. See also Anglo-Dutch Wars.
