The Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, or Göteborgs symfoniker, is an orchestra based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Founded in 1905, it was granted the title of "Swedish National Orchestra" in 1987.

1941-1953: Issaï Dobrowen
1953-1960: Dean Dixon
1961-1967: None; Alberto Erede and Othmar Maga were regular guest conductors
1967-1973: Sergiu Comissiona (with Norman Del Mar as permanent guest conductor, 1968-1973)
1974-1976: Sixten Ehrling
1976-1979: Charles Dutoit
1982-2004: Neeme Järvi

Swiss conductor Mario Venzago is scheduled to assume the post in 2004.
