The Graf Spee was a German Mackensen class battle cruiser that was never finished. She was laid down on November 30 1915 on the Schichau yards in Danzig and had a length of 223 meters (732 ft) with a size of 35,000 tons.
She was launched on September 15 1917. Construction, however, stopped on November 17 1918 – over a year before completion – and she was scrapped from 1921 to 1923.
The Graf Spee must not be confused with the much more famous Admiral Graf Spee, a German warship of World War II.
