Han Yu
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Han Yu (韓愈) (768 - 824), was a founder of Neo-Confucianism as well as a poet.

He launched the "Movement for the Classical Language" (古文運動). His goal was not to imitate ancient style, but to get rid of this flowerish style with heavy constraints of parallel sentences that prevailed from Han to Tang dynasties.

One of his most famous essays decries the worship of Buddhist relics as wasteful and foreign.
