Hawaii's Story by Hawaii's Queen is a book by Liliuokalani, the last reigning monarch of Hawaii. In it, she gives her account of her upbringing, her ascension to the throne, the overthrow of her government by pro-American forces, her arrest and trial, and her appeals to the American government to restore the autonomy of Hawaii. These appeals were ultimately unheeded; instead, in 1898, the same year the book was published, the United States Congress formally annexed Hawaii.
