The Hawaii Territory was a territory of the United States from February 22, 1900 to 1959. It voluntarily joined the United States following the abolishment of the Hawaiian monarchy, during the brief existence of the Republic of Hawaii.
During World War II the Hawaii Territory was governed by the United States military.
On August 21, 1959 Hawaii was granted statehood, and became the 50th U.S. state.
