Jaffa is a derogatory acronym used to describe the inhabitants of greater Auckland, New Zealand, by New Zealanders who do not live in the Auckland area.
Auckland is the largest city in New Zealand, and the word Jaffa conveys dislike for the success of Aucklanders who make up more than a quarter of the population of New Zealand. Jaffa is an acronym for Just Another F...wit From Auckland. It is sometimes spelt Jafa -- Just Another F...ing Aucklander. Aucklanders say the word indicates frustration and envy in the users who they consider a little backward, which may go some way toward explaining the animosity.
Aucklanders have no equivalent term for people that live outside of the metropolis.
