Dr. John R. Rice was a Baptist evangelist who was influential within the fundamentalist movement of Protestant Christianity. He was born on December 11, 1895 in Cooke County, Texas, and passed away on December 29, 1980 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Dr. Rice is best known as the founder and publisher of The Sword of the Lord newspaper, and as the author of the book Prayer: Asking and Receiving.
