Kaiserfahrt
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The Kaiserfahrt is a canal in Pomerania which connects the city of Stettin with the river Swine.

It was dug by the German Empire between 1875 and 1890, to allow ships on the Baltic Sea to easier reach the industrial city of Stettin.

The canal is c. 12 km long, and ten metres deep. After it was opened for ships the town of Swinemünde began to diminish in importance as a German harbour.

Today the canal lies in Poland, and is referred to as Zalew Szczecinski (Stettin Canal).
