Kapang syndrome
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Kapangpangan Syndrome is a phrase originating from the Philippines that refers to a situation where:

  1. There is a person who speaks a dialect from a country which has a different national or official language from that dialect he/she speaks.
  2. When speaking with people not from his locality the person tries to speak the national language.
  3. The person with a different native tongue commits many grammatical or syntactic errors.

Roots

In the Philippines, a dialect close to Tagalog known as Kapampangan is spoken mostly in the provinces of Pampanga (hence the dialect's name), Tarlac, and Bataan. It is intentionally misspelled as "Kapangpangan" to illustrate the commission of grammatical error in Tagalog. Tagalog is the base dialect of the Philippines' national language - Filipino. The national language also followed Tagalog's grammar.
