Köttbullar, or
Swedish meatballs are balls of minced or ground meat.
There are many kind of meatball recipes with different kind of spices. How you make your meatballs depend on your taste. However, all recipes are based on the following basic, or minimum, recipe on Swedish meatballs; Serves: 4, Time: 30 minutes.
Ingredients
- 0.5 kg ground beef
- 1 egg
- 0.5 dl dried bread crumbs
- 2 - 3 dl water (substitute with milk or cream)
- 1 small onion
- salt, pepper
Instructions
- Mix the water and the dried bread crumbs in a bowl and let it sir for 7-8 minutes.
- Chop the onion neatly.
- Stir the ground beef, the egg, the chopped onion, salt and pepper into the bowl.
- Take the mix and form it into round balls, approximately 2-3 centimeters (1 inch) in diameter.
- Fry the meatballs on medium heat in a frying pan with butter for approximately 3-5 minutes. Fry them on all sides until they are brown and not pink in the middle.
Serve them with mashed potatoes, or cooked potatoes with sauce, and lingonberry or cranberry preserve.
