Lichtenberg is a borough of Berlin. In 2001, it was merged with the former borough of Hohenschönhausen; the resulting borough retained the name Lichtenberg. It encompasses an area of 52.29 km² and has, as of 2003, about 260,200 inhabitants. Its current mayor is Christina Emmrich (PDS).
