Life, the Universe and Everything is the third book in the five-volume Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy science fiction trilogy by Douglas Adams.
In this instalment, our heroes are recruited by Slartibartfast (now moonlighting for an organisation that attempts to preserve history from the interference of time travellers) in a quest to prevent the destruction of the universe by the inhabitants of the planet Krikkit.
The title refers to the Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything.
