There are officially seven universities in Israel which are listed here (followed by the English acronym, if commonly used).

• Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJI)
• Tel-Aviv University (TAU)
• University of Haifa
• Bar-Ilan University
• Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU)
• Technion - Israel Institute of Technology
• Open University of Israel
