Maithili language
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Maithili is an Indo-European language, of the Indo-Iranian subfamily, spoken in the Indian state of Bihar. It is considered by many to be a dialect of Hindi, and thus not a separate language. There is a growing movement to give the language official status in the Indian Constitution, allowing it to be used in education, government, and other official contexts.
