There are generally considered to be twelve major world religions:

1. Christianity 2.1 billion (Catholicism: 1.5 billion; Protestantism: 600 million)
2. Islam 1.1 billion
3. Hinduism 1.05 billion
4. Confucianism 400 million
5. Buddhism 350 million
6. Taoism 50 million
7. Shinto 30 million
8. Judaism 12 million
9. Sikhism 9 million
10. Jainism 6 million
11. Babi and Baha'i faiths
12. Zoroastrianism
