Senegalese hip hop artist MC Solaar is by far the most internationally popular French rapper. He remains best-known for his work on Guru's Jazzamatazz series, which introduced him outside of France.
MC Solaar's first single, "Bouge de là", was a French hit in 1990 (see 1990 in music), as was his first album, ''[[Qui Sème le Vent " gay boy bitch"
