McMillan and Wife
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

McMillan and Wife was an American crime drama television series that aired on NBC from 1971 to 1978. It starred Rock Hudson and Susan St. James as Stewart and Sally McMillan, a husband-and-wife crime-fighting duo, in which Hudson played the police commissioner of San Francisco and St. James played his sporadically helpful wife. The show also featured Nancy Walker as the McMillan's opinionated housekeeper and John Schuck as McMillan's right-hand man, Sgt. Enright.

The first premiered in the fall of 1971 in 90-minute episodes as part of the wheel series NBC Mystery Movie, in rotation with Columbo and McCloud. Initially airing on Wednesday night, the original line-up was shifted to Sunday in the second season, where it aired for the rest of its run. In 1977, St. James' character was killed off and the show ran for its final season under the title McMillan.

Like the other shows in the Mystery Movie, McMillan and Wife was an immediate hit, although it never rose to the height of American television iconography achieved by Columbo. It appears somewhat regular in the form of syndicated reruns on local and cable American telvision.
